Captain John Slatton's Company, War of 1812

John Slatton was a captain under Colonel Edwin Booth, who commanded the 5th regiment of East Tennessee Militia; Major General William Carroll was the division commander. Some or all of the men of Slatton's company were mustered at Wilful's muster ground in Hawkins County.

The list below was extracted from the payroll roster in the custody of the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, DC. All those listed served from 13 November 1814 to 2 June 1815 unless otherwise noted. Those whose service terminated early probably were killed or were deserters or took other commissions in the militia. The dollar amount listed is the amount of pay received for the entire period. All names are in the order that they appeared on the list and spelled as there.

Slatton's name is often seen as Slatten, Slaten, Slaton, and with other spellings, but as he signed this particular roster, "Slatton" appears to be his preferred spelling.
