James
Harvey Walker apparently lost both his own Bible
as well as his
father's when his hotel in Newport, Tennessee, burned
about 1912. However, his granddaughter, Adelia (Guthrie)
Knight has pages supposedly torn from at least one Bible
that James owned. Adelia was also the caretaker of the
last of Jim's children to die, Grace, who died at age
100 in the year 2000. All of the entries appear to be
made at the same time with birth locations added later
with a different pen; assuming that Jim kept a contemporaneous
family Bible, it was most likely among those lost in
the 1912 hotel fire.
