Joseph, the oldest son, also swore an affidavit about
when he was born and who his parents were. This affidavit
was sent along with Jane's explanation of the Bible
records.
The fourth day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty
three personally appeared before me John
Richie a justice of the peace in and for said county Joseph
Walker oldest son of Edward
Walker and Jane Walker
his wife now his widow, and after being duly sworn according to
law states that he is fifty two years old the 26th day of june last
from the register he has recorded in his bible which was copied
from the family register referd [sic] to by Jane
Walker his mother widow of Edward
Walker his Father; and who was a pensioner[.] he also states
that the Register sent on with his Mothers [sic] first declaration
for a pension as he is informed and believes is genuine and he expects
that his age in that Register will correspond with the one ["copied"
crossed out] sent on now and that he knows that all matters relative
to the pension has been intended to be correct and knows Jane
Walker the present application is the widow of Edward
Walker the deceased pensioner[.] sworn to and subscribed
[words crossed out] day and year first above written before me
