The act under which Edward Walker obtained a pension
provided that his widow or orphan could receive the
amount due to the date of death. His widow, Jane, apparently
was in no hurry for the money since the final payment
was payable six months earlier. She appears before the
County Court to prove that she is his widow and gives
power of attorney to a local attorney, Newton A. Evans,
to collect the final amount. She also had to return
his pension certificate, which still exists in the files.
These records are not in Edward's pension file but in
the Final Payment records at the National Archives.
Several pages are included and have not been microfilmed;
the original records were examined and photocopied,
and copies can presumably be obtained by mail from the
Archives as well.

form are preprinted. The words in italics here
are the ones handwritten.]
