He was born 14 JUN 1718 and had a brother Elias and half-brother Edward and half sister,Mary (twins)by Edward's first wife who died shortly after the twins birth.There is a story that John had seven sons who were in a shipwreck off Long Island with six of them surviving. |

The assumption is that he married "Hannah" circa 1755-1756, and migrated to Stonington, CT, from thence to Petersburgh, NY in 1780 with the Eliphalet Stewart (son of Lt. William Stewart of Stonington) family. John and Hannah Church's children were: John Church (1757-), Hannah Church (1763-?), Elizabeth Church(1765-?) and Nathaniel Church (1759-). |
