ATLANTA, Ga., Oct. 30 -Colonel
Lochlin Washington Caffey, retired Army officer, died at his home here yesterday after a year?s illness.
Colonel Caffey, who was born in Crodonville, Ala., had been living in Atlanta since his retirement
ten years ago.
Colonel Caffey served first with the Second Georgia Volunteers in 1898. He was colonel
of the Twenty-second Infantry at Fort McPherson from 1928 to 1930, when he was transferred to Fort Benning,
where he served until his retirement.
Survivors include a widow, the former Miss Helen Mead of Decatur,
Ga.; a daughter, Miss Helen Caffey; two sons, Colonel Eugene M. Caffey of the United States Army, and
B. F. Caffey of Hollywood, Calif.; seven grandsons and four granddaughters.
