Caffey, Mrs. Rebecca Ellen of Salty Community.
Age 85. Died ?/1937 (Sunday) at her home after a few days illness, complicated by the infirmities of
age. Services held (Monday) in Salty Church. Burial in Salty Cemetery. Rev. L.R. Stephens, pastor
of Thorndale Baptist Church, officiated. Urban's were funeral directors. She was born 4/13/1852 in
, Montgomery Co, Alabama. "She would have been 86 yrs. old had she lived until her next birthday."
Married E.C. Caffey 2/13/1868. They came to Texas in 1874 and settled in Milam, where they lived until
they were called to their eternal home. She united with the Christian Church as a young girl and remaining
of that faith throughout her long eventful life. Preceded in death by her husband, 3 sons and a daughter.
Survivors: 3 sons, C.M. Caffey of Salty, T.A. Caffey of Thorndale, S.A. Caffey of Freeport; 2 daughters,
Mrs. R.M. Beard, Thorndale, Mrs. T.L. King of Miles; sister, Mrs. A.J. Jackson; brother, John Thomas
of Stockdale; host of other relative, friends, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren.
