Former Greenvillite Mary Cleo Eiland Sanford, 85, of Route 1, Box 873, Big Sandy, died at 10 p.m. Saturday in a Mineola hospital. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Shady Grove Cemetery with Revs. Robert Ridley and Louise Welch officiating.

Born Nov. 29, 1900 in Motley County, she was the daughter of C.C. and Exar Alexander Eiland. She married Clyde Fagg Sanford Sept. 3, 1918 in Hugo, Okla. Mrs. Sanford was a member of Shady Grove Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Fagg Sanford Jr. of Greenville; daughter, Elayne Trimble of Big Sandy; sisters, Annie Dora Eiland Wade of Greenville and Estelle Eiland Robland of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death April 26, 1982.

Memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Methodist Church.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons, including Rob D. Trimble III, Dr. Fagg Sanford III, Warren Biggs, Johnny Tharp, Robin Trimble, Brian Biggs, Brett Biggs and Tom Trimble. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
