Funeral services for Willie Mae Haddox, 89, of Milano were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, 2000 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Joe Bailey of Liberty Community Church officiating. Burial followed in the Milano Cemetery. She died Thursday, Dec. 7 in the Cameron Nursing Center in Cameron.

Mrs. Haddox was born Oct. 5, 1911 in Ballinger to William H. and Berta (Butts) Gill. She and Homer Oliver Haddox were married May 31, 1928 in the First Christian Church in Cameron. A homemaker, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Milano. Mrs. Haddox was a 1928 graduate of Milano High School, former secretary and treasurer of Milano Volunteer Fire Dept. and Milano Senior Citizens. She was an election judge in Milano for many years.

Preceding her in death were her husband on July 19, 1991 and a grandson, Sammy Douglas Thurman on Feb. 3, 1992. Surviving are two daughters, Queena Rae Thurman and husband Kent and Bobbie Ann Eiland and husband Bill all of Milano; 11 grandchildren, Buddy Thurman III, Cynthia Ann Wood, Debra Dell Thurman, Phyllis Rae Countryman, Theresa Mae Kutch, Sandra Kay Thurman, Olivia Doreen Doonan, Homer Ray Thurman, Mark Eiland, Marlis VivAnn Davidson, Billy Bob Eiland.
