Cordelia Gulledge Campbell DILLON -- Mrs. Cordelia Gulledge Campbell, 93, widow of Lt. Col. James
L. Campbell, USAF, and the daughter of the late William Asbury Gulledge and Frances Dudley Gulledge
of Verbena, Alabama, died Saturday, July 3, 2004, at the Presbyterian Home of South Carolina in Florence. Survivors
include her sons James Preston Campbell of Columbia and William Alexander Campbell and his wife Jan
of Gaithersburg, Maryland; four nieces also survive.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Verbena, Alabama,
and was a graduate of Judson College, Marion, Alabama; she received her Master's degree in library
science from Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the librarian at Maxwell Field,
Alabama, and Eglin Field, Florida, during WWII, and later served as librarian at Lake View High School
in Lake View, South Carolina. She was a member of the Pee Dee Presbyterian Church, DAR, and Magna Charta
Dames.
A memorial service will be at the Pee Dee Presbyterian Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July
6, 2004. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at the Kannaday Funeral
Home in Dillon.
Memorials for Mrs. Campbell may be given to the McLeod Hospice of the Pee Dee,
555 E. Cheves Street, Florence. Published in the Morning News on 7/5/2004.
