About David Chase Eiland Jr:

EILAND Dr. DAVID CHASE JR. a physician, teacher, beloved husband and father was born in Munday, Tx on February 24, 1936 to Dr. David and Ned Harbin Eiland. Dr. Eiland died on October 24,2002 in Granbury, Tx

He graduated high school at age 16 and entered The University of Tx graduating in 1956. He completed his medical education at University of Tx Southwestern Medical School and internship at University Hospital in Little Rock, Ark. After his father's untimely death, he returned to Munday and took over his father's practice. He continued his education and received his degree in Psychiatry from the University of Tx Medical Branch, Galveston in July 1969. He joined the faculty of UTMB after graduation and rose to the position of Dean of Students and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Dr. Eiland was devoted to medical education and was extremely proud of physicians whose training he supervised.. Among these were Michael Davis,M.D. of Glen Rose, Danny Thomas,M.D. of Ft.Worth, Eric Hollabaugh,M.D. of Dallas, Boyd Lyles,M.D. formerly of the Cooper Center in Dallas and David Benavides of Nebraska. Dr. Eiland was an outstanding educator and the recipient of many honors during his career.

During rehabilitation following serious illnesses, he nurtured his religious faith which he shared with others. Dr. Eiland is survived by his wife, Dr.Karen Collins-Eiland of Granbury, Daughter, Dianna of Alexandria,Virginia and sons Dave Chase and James of Austin,Tx Services will be held at 11:00am Monday, Oct.28th at Martin's Funeral Home Chapel with graveside services at 1:00pm Tue. at Restland Cemetery in Dallas. In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to David C. Eiland,Jr. M.C. memorial fund in care of School of Medicine Development Office University of Tx Medical Branch 301 University Blvd , Galveston Co, Tx 77555-0133, MARTIN' S FUNERAL HOME GRANBURY, Tx (817) 279-7700
