About William Norris Largent:
William went into the armed services on July 28, 1944 and was discharges on June 30,1946.

29, 1926 ? April 24, 2001 CENTERVILLE ? Services for William Norris Largent, 74, of Centerville are
set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. The Revs. Calvin Springer
and Roy Botard will officiate. Burial will be in the New Salem Cemetery in eastern Leon County. Visitation
will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. and from
8:30 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the funeral home. Mr. Largent died Tuesday in a Madisonville
hospital.
He was born in Montgomery County and lived in Centerville since 1966, moving from Houston.
He was a rancher and full gospel minister. He pastored churches at Decker?s Prairie Chapel near Pinehurst,
New Salem Baptist Church near Centerville, Grace Tabernacle in Dew and New Life Fellowship in Bryan.
Mr. Largent served in the U.S. Army 2nd Armored Division during World War II and was awarded the Purple
Heart while in Berlin.
Survivors include his wife, Vernice Largent of Centerville; a son and
daughter-in-law, Danny and Cathie Largent of Centerville; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and John
Finch of Fairfield, Texas; three sisters, Jo Ann Free of Centerville, Georgia Jones of Houston and Betty
Graham of Katy; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
