Funeral services for Lucy Pelzel Eiland, 91, of Rockdale, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2000, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Chapel in Rockdale with interment in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale. Rev. Rolan Haney and Rev. Calvin Springer officiated.

Mrs. Eiland died Saturday, July 1, in Rockdale. She was a resident of Rockdale since 1945 and previously resided in the Gay Hill community. Mrs. Eiland was born September 16, 1908, in Milam County to Joseph and Mary (Huff) Pelzel.

She married Guinn O. Eiland on May 8, 1937, in Rockdale. A homemaker, she loved both vegetable and flower gardening, and for many years she sewed patches and badges onto high school letter jackets. Mrs. Eiland was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church, taught Sunday School and worked actively with the youth of the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Guinn O. Eiland (May 28, 1997); four brothers, Hubert, Joe, Henry and Johnny Pelzel; and three sisters, Mary Menn, Terisa Stolte and Viola Stolte.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie Gest, and husband Billy of Rockdale; two sisters, Sabina Doss of Rockdale and Helen Strelsky of Rockdale; two grandchildren, Lisa Loewe and husband Dusty of Caldwell and Brad Gest and wife Jennifer of Rockdale; and three great-grandchildren, Justin, Miranda and Lance Loewe.
