About Helen Cathrine Soles:
Mrs. R. G. Hilson, age 73, died in a local hospital Sunday morning after an illness of two weeks. Mrs.
Hilson lived near the Red Oak Church and had lived in this community for a number of years. She was
a member of the Red Oak Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, R. G. Hilson, of Route 1;
three daughters, Mrs. Alma Hester, Mrs. A. O. Rabren, both of Andalusia, and Mrs. H. L. Cheshire, of
Florala; two sons, Robert of Birmingham, and A. H. of Bessemer; four brothers, J. C. and H. C. Soles
of Andalusia, E. E. Soles of Gantt, and J. L Soles of Crestview, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. S. L. Hobbie
of Georgiana, Mrs. J. R. Bulger, Mrs. S. M. Martin, and Mrs. Mae Clary, all of Andalusia.
services were held from the Red Oak Baptist Church Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock with Rev. R. M.
Corbitt officiating, assisted by Rev. C. F. Corbitt and Rev. Cliff Davis. Music was furnished by the
church choir accompanied by Mrs. J. T. Driggers.
Pallbearers were H. L Cheshire, Jr., Bob Cheshire,
Donald Hilson, Jack Soles, Claude Bulger and Edgar Martin. Flower girls were Misses Annie Bell McLain,
Elizabeth Patteson, Juanita Hamm, Illa Ruth Cheshire, Jeanette Cheshire, Jeanette Sue Rabren, Majorie
Thomasson, Mary Evely Maddox, Helen Soles, Barbara Ann McLain.
Friends and relatives from Crestview,
Fla., Florala, Andalusia, Gantt, Birmingham and Bessemer attended the funeral.
Interment was made
in the Red Oak Cemetery with Foreman Funeral Home in charge.
