About John Charles (J C) Eiland:

Birth: Feb. 5, 1911 Brooksville Hernando County
Death: Jan. 23, 2001 Tampa Hillsborough County Florida, USA

John Charles "JC" is the son of Charles Edward and Zola Ophelia (O'Berry) Eiland of Brooksville, Florida. On April 30, 1933 he married Carrie Louise Arrington and they lived in Lake Wales and then moved to Brooksville. In 1943, they moved their family to Tampa and JC went to work for Paul Swartz and he drove a truck and delivered, loaded and unloaded concrete cider blocks faster by hand than the machine. JC worked for the same company until his retirement. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. JC enjoyed gardening, fishing, camping, and he enjoyed boxing. Together him and his wife had seven children and they were married nearly 62 years at the time of his wife's death in 1995. When he lost her that sparkle in his eyes disappeared. It was so sad to see him suffering here on earth without her. He was lost and now I find peace in knowing that my grandparents are together again in Paradise where they shall never part again. JC was a wonderful man, Christian, husband, father, brother, and uncle. He will be missed dearly.
EILAND, JOHN, 89, of Tampa, died Tuesday (Jan. 23, 2001) at home. He was born in Brooksville. He worked for Concrete Products for 42 years. Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Mobley and Shirley Ruhmel, both of Tampa; two sons, Wayne and Donnie, both of Tampa; his sister, Eva Mae Walker, Lake Wales; and 15 grandchildren. Swilley Funeral Home, Tampa.

EILAND
To God be the Glory, great things He has done. Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his Saints, Ps. 116.15. Carrie Louise Eiland, 79, Tampa, went to be with the Lord on February 22, 1995. A native of Hazelhurst, GA, she moved to Tampa from Brooksville in 1943. A homemaker, choir director, Sunday School teacher and a diligent worker in the Assemblies of God Church for many years, she assisted in establishing many churches in the Tampa Bay area. She wrote poetry extensively and created beauty with her hands and was a lover of nature and all of God's creatures. The power of God in her life, made evident through prayer and Bible study, gave her the ability to touch hearts and lives, spreading God's love and joy wherever she went. Mrs. Eiland was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Ann Cagle. Survivors include her husband, John Charles Eiland; sons: John Charles Eiland, Jr., H. Wayne Eiland, and Donnie G. Eiland; daughters: Shirley G. Ruhmel and Dorothy J. Mobley; brothers: George S. Arrington, A. Andre Arrington; sister, Irene A. Park; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Swilley Funeral Home, 1602 W. Waters Ave., with the Rev. Kirk Brown and the Rev. Boyd Arden, officiating visitation will be from 7:00 till 9:00 Friday evening.
