Margaret (Throckmorton ) Caffey Wells
Funeral service for Margaret Throckmorton Caffey Wells, 90, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, 2010, at the First Presbyterian Church of Anniston with the Reverend David Rice officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church parlor. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Caffey Wells died on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Autumn Cove in Anniston.
She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Caffey Haberer, Jane Caffey Wensley (Robert), Margaret Caffey Tyler (Tracy), Patricia Caffey Kemp, and Mary Helen Caffey; her sister, Julia T. Walker; grandchildren Elizabeth Hunt (Jason) and Jeff Wensley; her great-grandchild, Addison Wensley; nephews Frank Freel and Chris Walker; nieces Mary Thomas, Catherine Jones (Russ), Lane Hutchins (Julian), Becky Bedford (Tom) and Julie Hartley (Dan). She was preceded in death by her husbands, Dr. B.F. Caffey Jr. and Ret. Col. Robert Wells.
Ms. Caffey Wells was a native of Guntersville, Alabama. She attended Ward Belmont College in Nashville and the University of Alabama where she received a bachelors degree in Business and Commerce in 1942. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She moved to Anniston in 1952 with her husband, Dr. Caffey and daughters. A life-long Presbyterian, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Saints and Sinners Sunday School Class. She was also a member of Revelers, the Sewing Club and Dominos. She served for a time as financial director of the First Presbyterian Church and House Mother at the Internation House at Jacksonville State.
Mrs. Caffey Wells was a loving wife and mother, and a good friend to many who will be remembered for her charm and delightful sense of humor. Her family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Autumn Cove and Countryside Hospice for their excellent, caring services. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church or The ARC of Calhoun and Cleburne Counties, P.O. Box 1848, Anniston, AL 36202.
