About Thomas Jefferson Eiland:
Thomas J. "Tom" Eiland, a native of Coffee County and resident of Brewton, died Thursday in a local
health care facility. He was 73. Eiland retired as a draw twist operator from Monsanto Corp. He was
a U.S. Army veteran and member of Catawba Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah
Chavers Eiland of Brewton; four sons, Jerry Eiland of Flomaton, David Eiland of Dallas, Thomas G. Eiland
of Jay, Fla., and Keith Smith of Brewton; one sister, Lucille Thornton of Greenville, Ala.; five grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild. Services are today at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in
Brewton. Burial will follow in Catawba Cemetery, also in Brewton.
