About George Wilford Uptain:

Uptain, George Wilford, age 85, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2011.

Mr. Uptain was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Ellazena Ingle Uptain, a granddaughter, Alice Rebecca Blue, two brothers, Paul David Uptain and Herbert Otto Uptain.

He is survived by two daughters, Rebecca (Johnny) Blue of Montgomery, Al., Beverly (Bill) Holt of Hawkins, Tx.; one son, George (Brenda) Uptain, Jr. of Austin, Tx.; three sisters, Pauline Henderson, June Stringer, Terry Kicker; one brother, Charles Uptain; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Mr. Uptain was a member of Eastern Meadows Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon. Funeral services will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. with Ministers Bill Holt and Don Brannon officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family wants to extend a special thank you to all his friends, Amedisys Hospice Services and caregivers at Country Cottage for all the loving support that has been shown him. Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Uptain, Dean Holt, John David Free, Will Tucker, Tanner Free and Terry Wayne Kicker. Honorary pallbearers will be the Elders and Deacons from Eastern Meadows Church of Christ.
