Francis Pollard "Bear" Grigsby
SHREVEPORT, LA - Francis Pollard Grigsby was born on February 3, 1952
and died on January 8, 2013 at the age of 60. He was the son of Frank Wright Grigsby and Eleanor Hodge
Grigsby. He is survived by his wife Cindy Grigsby; his brother, Dr. Tobin Hodge Grigsby; his sister
Susan Grigsby Evans and husband Jonathan; and mother in law Joan Webb all of Shreveport. He is also
survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Tobin Hodge Grigsby, Jr., Frank Jacob Grigsby, Lee Evans
Grigsby, Peter Grigsby Evans, Susannah Evans Rogers and husband Jay, Catherine Spearing Evans, Sarah
Jennings Evans and Laura Evans Fowler and husband Ryan.
Francis was nicknamed "Bear" while attending
Hamilton Terrace by his good friend Jeff Brookings. He attended Northwood High School where he enjoyed
playing football under Coach Farrar. He graduated from LSU in Baton Rouge where he was proud to be a
member of SAE Fraternity. He was a very enthusiastic supporter of the LSU Tigers throughout his life.
was a Realtor and Appraiser and later decided to open a restaurant named Bears, which specialized in
cajun cuisine and fresh oysters. Fancis loved to ride in the Highland Parade in his yellow Chevrolet
convertible which he called "The Classic". He would throw teddy bears to the crowds. He was a lifelong
member of St. Mark's Cathedral.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's Cathedral on Tuesday,
January 22 at 10:00 AM. The Very Rev. Alston B. Johnson will officiate, assisted by The Rev. Dr. Rowena
White. Internment will follow in the Columbarium. The family will receive friends in the parlor following
