HOUSTON-Charles Banning Skeeters, 79, of Houston died on Monday, July 3, 2000 following a lengthy illness. He was born October 12, 1920 in Eagle Lake, Colorado Co. The year 1938 marked his graduation from Eagle Lake High School and his acceptance of Jesus Christ. His marriage to Lottie Rae Caffey of Rockdale, took place on July 26, 1941.

After 37 years of working for Exxon Oil Refinery, he retired in 1978 in order to devote his time to his family, friends and church. Recreation Acres Full Gospel Church enjoyed his faithful attendance for more than 50 years where during this time he served in various positions from song leader, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, board member for 50 years and Chairman of the BOard for 27 years. He was a special friend and help to many missionaries as well.

Preceding him in death were his sister, Marianne Skeeters; his parents, Bryant and Eva Skeeters, and one great grandson, Adam Fleener. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lottie Rae Skeeters; son, Charles Skeeters and daughter-in-law, Peggy Skeeters of Houston; granddaughter, Sonya Fleener and husband Kirk Fleener and great grandson, Travis Fleener of Spring; granddaughter, Kari Miller and husband Jeff Miller of Honolulu, Hawaii; one sister, Kathryn Eiland and husband Curtis Eiland of Belton and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 7 at American Heritage Funeral Home in Houston, with Rev. Douglas Springer officiating. Eulogies given by Rev. George Bollinger, Rev. Earl Pruitt and Pastor Fred Edmiston. Songs presented by granddaughter, Sonya Fleener, music by sister-in-law, Barbara Springer, obituary read by granddaughter, Kari Miller. Interment followed at Earthman's Resthaven Cemetery in Houston. Serving as pallbearers were Kirk Fleener, Jeff Miller, Robert Springer, Jeff Springer, Wesley Eiland and Rusty Burress.
