About Curtis A Caffey:
Rockdale Reporter, Thur., 10 May 2001 Funeral services for Curtis Caffey, 78, were held Tuesday,
May 8, 2001 at 2 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Springer officiating. Burial
followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. He died Sunday afternoon, May 6 in the Richards Memorial
Hospital.
Mr. Caffey, a lifelong resident of Rockdale, was born Sept. 5, 1922 in Milam County
near the Salty Community to Oscar and Ivy (Harris) Caffey. He retired as a foreman at Alcoa in Rockdale
after 28 years in June 1980. He was also a rancher. Mr. Caffey and Thelma Alford were married June
19, 1948 in Rockdale. He loved horseback riding, breaking horses, calf roping and was a founding member
of Rockdale Roping and Cutting Club and Rockdale Saddle Club. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
His
parents preceded him in death. Surviving are: His wife, Thelma Alford Caffey of Rockdale; two daughters,
Vickie Caffey of Rockdale and Diane Caffey of Austin; granddaughter, Tish Todd of Rockdale; brother,
Wayne Roberts of Rockdale; sisters, Lottie Ray Skeeters of Houston, Sue Spillers and Barbara Springer,
both of Rockdale. Pallbearers were Aaron Alford, Jeff Springer, Robert Springer, Eddie Roberts, Charles
Ray Skeeters, Leroy Stephens
