About Lonnie Boyd Stephens:
Rockdale Reporter, Thur., 4 May 2000 Funeral services for Boyd Stephens, 84, were held at
10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial following in
I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rev. Doug Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church officiated. Mr. Stephens died
Sunday, April 30 at his home in the Gay Hill community. He was a lifelong resident of the Salty and
Gay Hill communities.
He was born March 23, 1916 in Salty to Lonnie Dalton Stephens and Eva Harris
Stephens. Mr. Stephens was a self-employed farmer and carpenter, having worked for Coffield Construction.
He married Ruby Hirt Stephens on June 1, 1940 in Rockdale. Mr. Stephens was a member of Peace Lutheran
Church in Rockdale, served on the bOard of directors for Bartlett Electric Coop for 27 years, and was
a longtime supporter of Milam County 4-H.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and
two sisters, Louella Luckey and Leola Caffey. Survivors include a son, Leroy Stephens and wife Becky
of Rockdale; three daughters, Patsy Seals and husband Pearl of Mystic, Iowa, Peggy Ray and husband Doug
of Ennis and Deborah Mathews and husband Jimmy of Eddy; a sister, Daisy Tucker of Thorndale; nine grandchildren,
Leona Fogle and husband Steve, Loretta Seals, Monty Ray, Justin Ray, Dachia Ray, Stephanie Mathews,
Alicia Mathews, Randy Mathews and wife Diana and Clint Deason; and two great grandchildren, Mallory
Fogle and Holden McVeigh. Pallbearers were his great nephews, Bill Luckey, Tracey Luckey, Wayne Morris,
Stephen Tucker, John Caffey, Lonnie Boyd Caffey and Tommy Parker Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Kenneth
Caffey, Douglas Caffey, Edwin Voss, Glen Schneider, Thomas Greeson, Gabriel Garza, Billy Hobbs and Gus
Klekar.
