About Kenneth Cecil Gifford:

Funeral services for Kenneth Gifford, 78, were held Tuesday, July 24, 2001 in Rockdale. Burial followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. He died Sunday, July 22, 2001 in the VA Hospital in Temple.

Mr. Gifford, a lifelong resident of the San Gabriel area, was born Nov. 4, 1922 in Milam County near San Gabriel to John Riley and Berthal (Terrell) Gifford. He was a graduate from San Gabriel High School, Veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army and a member of the Thorndale VFW #4009. Mr. Gifford, a farmer most of his life, and Rose Marie Rutherford were married Aug. 14, 1948 in Cuero.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Marie Gifford; sisters, Effie Eula Caffey and Doris Elloie Doss; brothers, J. R. Gifford, Jack Gifford and Quinn Gifford and his parents.

Surviving are: Son, Kenny Gifford of Rockdale; daughter, Betty Anderson and husband Stanley of Austin; grandchildren, Scott Brink of Austin, Vickie Clark and husband Kelley of Sharp, Keith Brink and wife Pam of Austin, Kent Brink and wife Tia of Taylor, Tammy Hernandez and husband Bennie of Thorndale; great grandchildren, Anna Clark of Sharp, Amanda Brink of Austin, Blain Hernandez and Terrin Hernandez of Thorndale; special friend, Janice Janette of Huntsville. Pallbearers were John Curik, Frank Felton, Gus "Buddy" Schramm, Buster Cast, John Morton and Kit Worley. Honorary pallbearer was Weldon Puckett.

About Rose Marie Rutherford:

Gifford, Mrs. Rose Marie of Rockdale. Age 64. Died 11/7/1989 (Tuesday) in Scott & White Hospital in Temple. Services held 11/8 (Wed) in Phillips & Luckey Chapel in Rockdale. Burial in IOOF Cemetery in Rockdale. Tyson Parker officiated. She was born 9/1/1925 in Thorndale, the daughter of O.J. and Tillie (Lehmann) Rutherford. Spent most of her life in Milam Co. Charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Hill Johnson Post 4009 in Thorndale, past president of the organization, and active member until she became ill. Married Cecil Kenneth Gifford on 8/14/1948 in Cuero, Tx Preceded in death by parents, brother O.J. Rutherford, Jr., and 2 infant sisters. Survivors: Husband, Kenneth Gifford, Sr. of Rockdale; son Kenny Gifford of Rockdale; daughter, Betty Anderson of Austin; 2 sisters, Peggy Queen of Santa Fe, Tx; Shirley Parker of La Grange, Tx; 8 grandchildren; uncle Alvin Lehmann of Thorndale.
