? Aug. 25, 2001 FRANKLIN ? Services for Edwin John ?Buster? Dieckman, 78, of Franklin are set for
2 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church in Franklin. Jim Manning will officiate. Burial will be
in the New Baden Cemetery. Mr. Dieckman died Saturday at his home.
He was born in Robertson
County and lived in Franklin since 1982. He formerly lived in Houston and was a graduate of Franklin
High School and Tx A&M University. He also attended McKenzie Baldwin Business College in Bryan. He served
in the U.S. Army during World War II and received numerous medals and citations, including three Bronze
Stars and a Silver Star. He was retired after 32 years as assistant chief dispatcher for the Tx Pipeline
Company and was a member and deacon at the First Baptist Church of Franklin. He was also a member of
the VFW Post No. 9873 in Franklin and was a past member of the New Baden Lions Club. He served on the
Twin Creek Water BOard.
Survivors include his wife, Bertie Dieckman of Franklin; a daughter and
son-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Sansing of Bay City, Tx; a son and daughter-in-law, Edwin J. Jr. and Beverly
Dieckman of Houston; a sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Clifford Caffey of Rockdale; four grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.
