About Richard Lee Caffey:
KERRVILLE - Richard Lee Caffey, 43, of Kerrville, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, in his home following
an illness. He was born in Elgin, Texas, July 1, 1957, and raised in Manor, Texas. Richard had recently
moved to Kerrville from Nashville, Tenn., to be reunited with his family. He is survived by his children,
Addie Rose Caffey and Daniel Layne Caffey, and his wife, Deena Laine Foster-Caffey, All of Kerrville;
his parents, Dolly and Harold Caffey of Manor; two sisters, Pamela Kay Walther and Patricia Ellen Scott,
both of Manor; two brothers, Kenneth Randal Caffey of Dripping Springs, Texas, and Harold Allen Caffey
of Clifton, Tenn; his nieces, nephews, extended family members and many, many dear friends.
Richard
was a singin? and guitar-playin? cowboy who was a lover of music and a lover of life. He was a carpenter
whose passion was building furniture for the people he loved. He was an extremely charismatic person
who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Richard was a man who passionately
and eternally loved his wife; but mostly, he was a daddy who loved swinging in the swings and sliding
down the slide in the park with his kids; who was not afraid to throw his hat on the floor for his kids
to play with or allow them to help him strum a tune on his old guitar. It will be his children who will
miss him most of all.
The service will be in the Chapel at Newby Funeral Home, 209 N. Ave. C,
Elgin, Texas, Wednesday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Elgin.
