About Ned L Turnipseed:
TURNIPSEED, Ned L., (BG, USA, Ret'd), 74, a resident of Montgomery, AL, died peacefully on Sunday, September
23, 2007, at a Montgomery hospital. A graveside service, with full military honors, will be held on
Wednesday, September 26, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., from Prattville Memory Gardens, with Dr. Jay Wolfe officiating,
Prattville Memorial Chapel directing.
Mr. Turnipseed honorably served his country for over 40
years as a Veteran of the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Brigadier General. He was the
recipient of several commendations and awards. Following his military career, he was an active member
of the Montgomery Parks and Recreation Board, the "Good Morning" Kiwanis Club, and The Poundstone Sunday
School Class of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery. He also gave generously of his time as a sports
referee for the Alabama High School Athletic Association football and basketball, and the S.E.C. basketball.
He
was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Turnipseed and Fred Turnipseed.
He is surviv ed
by his beloved wife, Charlotte W. Turnipseed; one daughter, Cindi Turnipseed; two sisters, Jamie Newman
and Gena Murphy; one brother, Ted Turnipseed, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers,
memorial tributes may be sent to the First Baptist Church Caring Center, 305 South Perry Street, Montgomery,
AL 36104. The family will receive friends at Prattville Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evening from 6:00
