About Horace Amason Douglass:
Horace Amason Douglass, 89, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2004. Services will
be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004, at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories,
542 Hickory Street, with Bro. H. S. Calahan and Eddie Castaneda officiating. Burial will follow in
the Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil.
Horace
was born June 26, 1915 to Ida May (Amason) and Grover Douglass in Sylvester, Texas. He served as a Tech
Sergeant in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Douglass then worked for Taylor County Road
Maintenance, Brown & Root Construction and Plain Machinery before taking a Civil Service job at Dyess
Air Force Base. He married Faye Old-Odom, devoted wife for 62 years; both members of Immanuel Baptist
Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Kenneth Douglass, Glenn Douglass,
Harold Douglass; and a daughter, Joan Forrester.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Douglass of
Abilene; two sons, Glenn Douglass with wife, Susan, of Dallas, and Dale Douglass with wife, Charlotte,
of Salado, Texas; a daughter, Nadine Dobbs of Lewiston, Idaho; a son-in-law, Eddie Forrester of Midland;
13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great- grandchild.
