Mary Lee Whiteley, 96, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006 in
the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at Phillips
and Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Calvin Springer and Rev. Doug Springer officiating. Burial
followed in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Mrs. Whiteley was born July 23, 1909 in Rockdale to Perry
Anderson Parker and Bertha Sparks Parker. She married Julius Whiteley on July 25, 1925 in Cameron.
Mrs.
Whiteley was a retired owner and operator of Whiteley the Florist in Rockdale for many years. She was
a resident of Rockdale most of life and was a life long resident of Milam County. She was member of
Rockdale Full Gospel Church in Rockdale, and the church?s quilting circle. She entered her canned vegetables
from her garden every year in the Rockdale Fair.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Julius
Whiteley on April 24, 1980; daughter-in-law, Janice (Reed) Whiteley, brother, L. V. Parker and two sisters,
Ethel Barringer and Velma Brooks. Survivors include two sons, J.R. Whiteley, Jr. and wife Sue of Rockdale
and Jerry Whiteley and wife Patti of Katy; brother, Floyd Parker of Garland; five grandchildren, Mike
Whiteley of Mt. Vernon, Libby Kenjura of Chappell Hill, Tina Magness of Corsicana, Heather Hernandez
of Frisco and Hannah Whiteley of The Colony; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers
included Billy Thompson, Bobby Denman, Charles Denman, Jonathan Muston, Gene Jones and Raymond Story.
