(believed to be the son of John SEXTON and Rebecca McDonald)
b. ca1799-1801, VA, d. 17-Mar-1881, Wilkesville, Vinton Co., OH,
m1) 9-Dec-1818, in Gallia Co., OH, to DIANNAH RALPH,
(daughter of John RALPH and Mary IRONS),
b. 12-Jan-1798, RI, d. aft 24-Dec-1852.
m2) 27-Aug-1857 in Salem Twp., Meigs Co., to Mary (WOOD) NELSON,
(daughter of Isaac and Martha WOOD),
b. ca1811 in Athens Co., OH.
This is very probable but still
need direct
proof he is Alvin Saxton's father.
Some material came from Mary Ellen WILSON.
Wm. and Dianna Saxton sold 40 acres
less the house
and one acre in Meigs Co, Ohio
to Alvin Saxton 21st Aug 1845 for $50, this is why we feel Wm.
is Alvin's father.
Wm. Saxton bought 50 acres in Jay
Co., Indiana
for $200 from George We*ble and
wife Esther on 16th October 1850. This was witnessed by S.
(probably
his son
Samuel) Saxton. From this property Wm. and Dianna Saxton sold
10 acres in Jay
Co, Indiana for $80 to George L. Andrews on 24th Dec 1852. This
was witnessed by
Alvin Saxton, his son.
Wm. Saxton bought Lot # One in the
town of Bellfountain,
Jay Co., Indiana
for $12 from Levi Thompson on 14th Feb 1853.
It is believed that John Sexton, Sr.
was his father,
who had another son (his brother)
John Sexton, Jr. born 1795. This John Jr. married Margaret
Colwell
born 1801and
had a child Margaret Saxton born 1833 who married John Coy. It
is believed that
William Sexton, Sr. born 1755 was his grandfather, who had
another
(besides the
above John Sr.) son William Sexton, Jr. born 16 Mar 1781 died
3 Oct 1844 who
married 1811 to Esther ? This William Sr. married Betsey born
1759.
William Saxton and Dianna Relph: by
virtue of a
license was joined in the holy bands
of matrimony on the 9th December 1818, William Saxton and Dianna
Relph, by me,

According to the Tax list of 1819 for

Twp., Meigs Co., OH:
A William Saxton paid 30 cents tax for one horse.

Republican:
"...old Billy
Saxton, an old resident of this county...formerly lived in Scipio
township,
but for some twenty years past has lived in this township. He died at
his son
Thomas Saxton's, in Wilkesville. He was a man some seventy-five or
eighty years of age."
