Larkin Mundy/Stacy Stephens

1.    The earliest record that I have found on Larkin is his military service record from the War of 1812. He enlisted from Dearborn County, Indiana on 3 Apr. 1913 in Capt. Justus Sartwell's Co, 3rd Regt, Indiana Militia. He was discharged on 17 June 1813. This document is just a list of those serving in this militia company. No other information is given.

2.    Larkin is found in the 1830 Federal Census of Morgan County, Indiana. He is listed with the following family:

3 males under the age of 5
            1 male age 5 and under 10
            1 male age 10 and under 15
            1 male age 15 and under 20
            1 male age 30 and under 40

            1 female age 5 and under 10
            1 female age 15 and under 20
            1 female age 30 and under 40

3.    Larkin is listed as an heir in his father Henry's estate in 1840 in Marion County, Indiana. He evidentally had a dispute with his brother Samuel, as he was given Samuel's portion of the inheritance by the court.

4.    Larkin's estate was probated from Johnson County, Indiana. The following is taken from the book, Court Records of Johnson County, Indiana 1823-1853 by Maurice Holmes, published January 1982:

(This book is a transcription, and the original, written with a quill pen, may have been hard to read. The page numbers are from the original record. This is typed exactly as it is transcribed in this book. I would wonder if the names were reversed in the page 196 entry, and think that the two Silvas referred to on page 525 are really Sebre and Celia, as Sebre was married to James Abbott, and Celia was married to Fredrick Fansler. The names Myers and Myres seem to be used like Mundy and Monday, interchangably.)

Order Book B,Page 196. Larkin Monday was appointed administrator of the estate of Larkin Myers deceased. Oct 8, 1841.

Order Book B, Page 525. Larkin Myres administrator of the estate of Larkin Monday deceased petitioned the court to settle this estate as an insolvent one. Larkin's heirs were listed as: Lucinda Sulgrove and Squire, Henry G., James and Samuel Monday and Selva Abbott and Selva Fansler all adults and Hyram and Daniel T. Monday minors. The two Silvas resided in Illinois, Samuel resided in Hamilton Co. and all of the others in Marion Co. An ad of the insolvency was to be placed in the Franklin Examiner. February 10, 1846.

Order Book B, Page 600. Squire Monday, Lucinda Sulgrove and Henry G., James, Hiram and Daniel S. Monday were mentioned in a petition of insolvency for the estate of Larkin Monday deceased. Aug. 10, 1846.

Order Book C, Page 14. A notice was to be placed in the Franklin Examiner of Franklin of the insolvency of the estate of Larkin Monday deceased. Nov. 10, 1846.

Order Book C, Page 290. Final settlement was made by the administrator of the estate of Larkin Monday deceased with the creditors receiving twenty six cents for each dollar of their claims against this estate. May 15. (1849)
