WW1 Pension Records 
Note During WW1, John was wounded by a gun shot in the right foot in Jul 1916 and was treated in the London General Hospital from 11 Jul 1916 to 27 Jul 1916. On 28 Mar 1918 he was wounded again by a gun shot in the left arm at Bullecourt in France. He was treated at Queen Mary's Military Hospital, Whalley, Lancashire between 31 Mar 1918 & 24 Apr 1918. His records state that he was left with 20% disability which affected his ability to hold nails when making boxes.
WW1 Pension Records 
Note At the end of WW1, John was awarded the 1915 Star (having gone to France on 13 Jul 1915), the British & Victory Medals. The Siver War Badge Roll for York also recoords that John was entitled to this award as a result of the wounds he received.
