One Generation Ancestors

Thats what I call the females that hit into my pedigree chart that I have not been able to find anything on their parents or more often than not, have not had the time to spend searching for anything else on them other than how they hit into the tree. Below is a listing of these individuals and what information I have on them. Numbers listed are the number that the individual appears on my pedigree chart.

MATERNAL SIDE

53. Jane McCARTY was born about 1815 in Maryland, possibly in Harford Co., Ohio and died on 10 November 1879 in Adams Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio. Although her last name is in question, McCarty is the most likely maiden name for Jane. She was married to a William Lockhard before she married Absolum DENNIS, Sr. and the only record that I have found that fits is with a Jane McCarty who married William Lockard in the LDS Records. Jane married Absolum DENNIS, Sr. (# 52) on 13 July 1848 in Bethel Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio. Absolum DENNIS, Sr. was the son of John DENNIS (# 104) and Elizabeth BUCKLEY. Absolum was born on 5 June 1791 in Loudoun Co., Virginia and died 19 May 1877 in Monroe Co., Ohio. This is the second marriage for Absolum DENNIS, Sr. who was married before to a Mary Wilson. He had several children with Mary before her death and 3 children with Jane McCARTY, one of which was my ancestor, Lemuel DENNIS.

55. Mariah McELROY was the wife of Jacob WINLAND(# 54). I have no information on her except her name. Jacob was the son of Henry WINLAND (# 108) and Hannah BROWN(# 109). Jacob was born 26 February 1824 in Center Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio and died about the 13th of October 1898 in Monroe Co., Ohio. Jacob is buried in Hines Chapel Cemetery, Franklin Twp., Monroe Co., Ohio. They had several children, one of which was my ancestor, Hannah Loretta WINLAND (# 27).

57. Jane MORGAN was born about 1811-1815. She married William ODLE before November 1835. William ODLE was the son of Joshua ODLE # 112) and Susanna DAVIS (# 113). William was born about 1802-1804 and died about 1887. They had several children, one of which was my ancestor, Benjamin Franklin ODLE(# 28).

101. Polly CURTIN was married to John W. SIMS (# 100). John W. SIMS was born between 1782 and 1785. They had several children, one of which was my ancestor, Martin W. SIMS (# 50).

105. Elizabeth BUCKLEY was born about 1748. She married John DENNIS (# 104). John DENNIS was born about 1744 in Fairfax Co., Virginia. They had several children, one of which was my ancestor, Absolum DENNIS, Sr. (# 52).

195. Sarah DAY-PACE was born about 1747 in Fauquier Co., Virginia. She married John HITT (# 194). John HITT was born 18 October 1746 in Fauquier Co., Virginia and died about 1782 in Fauquier Co., Virginia. They had several children one of which was my ancestor, Susannah Rosannah HITT (# 97).

197. Catherine LONG was born 16 February 1753 in Augusta Co., Virginia and died 18 June 1839 in Jackson Co., Virginia ( now West Virginia). She married Michael READER (# 196) on 25 December 1769 in Augusta Co., Virginia. Michael READER was the son of Adam ROEDER (# 392) and Margaret Marie ZIMMERMAN (# 393). Michael was born 8 March 1749/50 in Augusta Co., Virginia and died 18 June 1839 in Jackson Co., Virginia (now West Virginia). They had several children one of which was my ancestor, Joseph RADER (# 98).

205. Hannah KEYES married John Michael WAGGONER (# 204). John Michael WAGGONER was the son of George WAGGONER (# 408). John was born about 1752 in Whitemarsh, Pennsylvania and died about 1843 in Romney, Virginia (now West Virginia). They had at least one child who was my ancestor, William WAGGONER (# 102).

241. Anna BAKER married Stephen B. WILCOX, Sr. (# 240). Stephen B. WILCOX, Sr. was born between 1760-1770 possibly in Wales and died 8 October 1837. They had at least 3 children one of which was my ancestor, Stephen B. WILCOX, Jr. (# 120).

393. Margaret Marie ZIMMERMAN died after 1795 in Rockingham, Virginia. She married Adam ROEDER (# 393) the son of Hans Adam RODER (# 785) and Anna Barbara PAINTER (# 785) in Bethlehem, Lehigh Co., Pennsylvania. Adam ROEDER was born about 1727 in Bethlehem, Lehigh Co., Pennsylvania and died about 1783. They had my ancestor, Michael READER (# 196).

439. Elizabeth WILSON married Perrigrine WHITTEN (# 438) and had my ancestor, Elizabeth WHITTEN (# 219).

491. Ann CORBART was born about 1688 and married John Milton STRAIGHT (# 490) about 1712 in Chester, Pennsylvania. John Milton STRAIGHT was born 12 November 1688 in Bristol, England. They had my ancestor, Elizabeth STRAIGHT (# 245).

PATERNAL SIDE

37. Nancy J. HUNT was born about 1825 in Floyd Co., Kentucky. She married James Washington STRATTON (# 36), the son of Solomon Hunter STRATTON (#72) and Jennie Shannon LAYNE (# 73). It is unknown the exact date of marriage for them. James Washington STRATTON was born 3 November 1821 in Mare Creek, Floyd Co., Kentucky (LDS Ancestral File). It is unknown when he died. Though I know they had several children, the only child that I have at this time listed in my file is my ancestor, Anderson Caldwell STRATTON (# 18). Anderson is also seen with other middle names in other research that I have seen, but they always start with the letter C.

39. Caroline HUFF died on 14 June 1909 in Cattletsburg, Boyd Co., Kentucky. She married Hugh DARBY (#38) on 25 December 1848 in Carter Co., Kentucky. Hugh DARBY was the son of Hugh DARBY (# 76) and his wife Catherine (MNU) (# 77). Hugh DARBY was born about 1813 and died 14 February 1892 in Duvale, Floyd Co., Kentucky. The only child that I have listed in my file at this time is my ancestor, Caroline DARBY (# 19) who married Anderson Caldwell STRATTON (#18).

45. Millie MAYNARD was born about 1797 in North Carolina. She married Thomas BURCHETT (# 44) on 29 February 1816 in Floyd Co., Kentucky [Ancestry.com]. He was the son of William BURCHETT and an unknown mother. Thomas BURCHETT was born about 1792 in Virginia and died about 1874 in Johns Creek, Floyd Co., Kentucky. I have 8 children born to them in my file. The one that I am related to is Jesse (AKA James) P. BURCHETT who married Louisa Bevins.

71. Christina CRACE was born about 1800 in Rockbridge Co., Virginia. She married William ADAMS (# 70) on 24 February 1818 in Floyd Co., Kentucky. William ADAMS was the son of William D. ADAMS (# 140) and Anna DEMOREST (# 141). He was born about 1791 in Clark Co., Kentucky and died about 1860 in Pike Co., Kentucky. They had at least 6 children, one of which was my Mary Ann ADAMS (# 35).

They had several children one of which was my Nancy Rebecca PORTER (# 41).

139. Rutha ROBERTSON was born about 1775 and died before 1830. She married John Watson RHEA (# 138). John Watson RHEA was the son of William RHEA (# 276). John was born about 1760 and died after 1830. They had at least 2 daughters one of which was my ancestor, Spicey RHEA (# 69).

141. Anna DEMOREST was married to William D. ADAMS (# 140) about 1791 in Clark Co., Kentucky. William D. ADAMS was born about 1774 and died 17 June 1855. They had at least 2 sons one of which was my ancestor, William ADAMS (# 70).

175. Catherine SALYER was born about 1791 probably in Virginia. She married James DAVIS (# 174), the son of Richard DAVIS (# 168) and Mary FUGETT (# 169). James DAVIS was born 18 February 1793 in Russell Co., Virginia and died about 1860 in Ezes, Morgan Co., Kentucky. They had several children one of which was my Mahala DAVIS (# 87).

177. Eveline YOUNG married Benjamin Hedford BURCHETT, Sr. (# 176) about 1748. Benjamin Hedford BURCHETT, Sr. was the son of Robert BURCHETT (# 352) and Hannah HEDFORD (# 353). 273. Candice TACKETT was born about 1746. She married Jesse HALL (# 272) about 1770 in Virginia. Jesse was the son of Thomas HALL (# 544) and Martha (# 545 - maiden name is unknown). Jesse HALL was born about 1746 in Johnathan Creek, Luenburg, Halifax Co., Virginia. They had several children one of which was my ancestor, Reubin HALL, Sr. (# 136).

275. Susannah SCARBOROUGH married John SMITH (# 274). They had several children one of which was my ancestor, Nancy Branham SMITH (# 137).

289. Jane WHITTEN married Solomon STRATTON (# 288). Solomon STRATTON was the son of John STRATTON (# 576) and Mary (# 577 - maiden name is unknown). Solomon was born about 1745. They had several children one of which was my ancestor, Tandy STRATTON (# 144).

291. Nancy SHANNON was married to William Waggoner LAYNE (# 290). William was born about 1705. They had several children, two of which were my ancestors. One of which was Nellie LAYNE (# 145) who married Tandy STRATTON (# 144). The other was James Shannon LAYNE (#146) who married Katherine HAGAR (# 147)

295. Mary SCHAEFER married John HAGAR (# 294). They had at least one daughter, my ancestor, Katherine HAGAR (# 147).

323. Frances BASKETT was born about 1740 and died about 1830 in Floyd Co., Kentucky. She married David BRANHAM, Sr. about 1756. David BRANHAM, Sr. was the son of John BRANHAM (# 644). They had several children one of which was Frances BRANHAM (# 161).

339. Nancy Agnes VANCE was born in Lee Co., Virginia. She married Francis FUGATE (# 338). Francis FUGATE was the son of Martin FUGATE (# 676) and Mary (# 677 - maiden name unknown). Francis FUGATE was born about 1752 in Washington Co., Virginia and died 13 September 1781 in Moccasin Creek, Russell Co., Virginia. They had at least one child my ancestor, Mary FUGETT (# 169).

Robert was born about 1673 on the Isle of Wight Co., Virginia and died about 1735 in Burnswick Co., Virginia. They had my ancestor Benjamin Hedford BURCHETT, Sr. (# 176).
