The Emmons's Family 4th Annual Reunion

Notes from the Reunion

The 4th Annual Emmons Reunion July 28, 2002

Hi all,

It was great fun to meet everyone again this year. At 1pm Virginia Emmons said Grace and every one had lunch. After lunch then Roger Wininger called the Business meeting together.

First Roger read a letter was read from Jackie Emmons Roberts to the Emmons attendants. Basically she told of the illness of our cousin Richard Emmons last years farthest distance attendee from California and her disappointment in not being able to attend this year's reunion. Richard is fighting esophageal cancer.

Next Order of Business was the election of next year's officers:

Keith Emmons- President

Tony Quinn- Vice President

Sharon Chestnut Emmons-Secretary

Phyllis Emmons Wininger- Treasure

Billie Trueblood Freeman- in charge of Games

After election special anniversaries, births, deaths and marriages were called for: Dollie Kendall announced the birth of 2 grandchildren.

Billie and Jim Freeman announced their upcoming 55th anniversary.

Games came next;

John Embleton and family traveled the farthest distance from Decatur, IL.

Merle Emmons and Edith Emmons at 82 and 80 were the oldest attendants at the reunion.

Wendall Snyder was the youngest Boy at 6 and the youngest Girl went to Emily Macy age 2.

The Baldest Man attendance went to Mark Emmons after much competition with Eddie Self and Tony Quinn.

The Prettiest Hair (lady) went to Merlene Emmons Wright with competition from Virginia Emmons and V. Emmons.

Then we played the guessing game: pocket change was collected. While the money was being counted the attendants were asked to guess the amount that had been collected. The winner received the amount that was collected. Rob Tow was the winner. He graciously donated the money to the Emmons reunion.

Next came the Emmons family Pop Quiz. Everyone was asked to read a shot paragraph about the Emmons family history. The paragraph was then collected. Then everyone had to answer 10 questions that came from the paragraph. Winners were: John Embleton, Arketta Butler and her daughter.

The last game was Purse and pocket pick. Everyone was asked to look in their purse of pocket to see if they were carrying 10 pre-chosen items. Winners of that game were: Phyllis Emmons Wininger, Frances Emmons Shields and (I can't remember the other person at this time.) That concluded the games.

After games we had picture-taking time; 3 of the children of Cyrenius and Lydia Emmons were represented, Descendents of Jonathan, Samuel and Cyrenius II. Pictures were taken of Cyrenius II descendents and Samuels.

We had several new attendants to this year's reunion. Three of Merle Emmons Daughter's and their families and John Embleton, his wife and children all were 1st time attendants.

Next years reunion will be July 27th at 1 pm at the French Lick Senior Citizen's building barring unforeseen problems. Pitch- in lunch. I hope to see you there next year.
