The original Registers for the Parish of Kirkby Stephen commence in 1647; unfortunately the records are not continuous, there being a gap, only some of which is covered by the Bishop's Transcripts, which I have also consulted. Overall, there remains a gap in the Registers from June 1671 until 1676. The transcriptions recorded here, extend only to the year 1773 (Baptisms), to 1771 (Marriages), and to 1773 (Burials). That is the extent of my microfilm. My thanks to the many people who have contributed information and files to be included in this site. Do please make use of the FreeFind Search facility which can be found at the bottom of this page, remembering to search on all possibly surname variations. Do also make sure you check out the various Cumbrian LINKS, particularly that to Andrew Lancaster's site, which incorporates many Kirkby Stephen surnames.
