To my Son, John BAILEY all and every part of that Estate called or known by the name of Bowes Croft in the County of York. To my Daughter, Margaret BAILEY that field or parcel of land being in the Parish of Brough in the County of Westmorland and also the sum of Six hundred pounds of good and lawful money. Will 1841 Richard BUCK, Sleagill Head, Westmorland, Farmer Will dated 7 June 1866 To my two Sons John and Anthony BUCK the sum or Legacy of One hundred and twenty pounds sterling to be divided between them share and share alike....Unto my Son Richard LANGLEY ...Twenty Five pounds....Unto Jane LANGLEY Senr of Sleagill Head...Thirty pounds and also one Bedstead Bed and Bedding as now standing in the Parlour...I also give...unto Jane LANGLEY Senr the interest of the share...bequeathed unto Jane LANGLEY Junr of Sleagill aforesaid until she attain the age of Twnety one years, the said interest to be paid to Jane LANGLEY Senr...at the rate of Four and one half percent per annum . And lastly I give and bequeath unto my Sons and Daughter, the whole of my Farming Stock Crop Implements of Husbandry Threshing Machine and Dairy Utensils which I ..direct to be sold by Public Auction as soon as convenient ..in the course of Twelve months after my decease...the proceeds thereof after... The Testator Richard BUCK was late of Sleagill Head in the parish of Morland in the County of Westmorland Farmer and died on the tenth day of January 1869 at Sleagill Head. "Under 450 pounds" John Giles MOUNSEY, Proctor, Carlisle Note: Jane LANGLEY Senr was a domestic servant in Richard BUCK's household. She came into service in her teens, when (or before) Richard's wife Elizabeth HARRISON died shortly after the birth of Richard and Elizabeth's fourth child (1829). Jane LANGLEY's relationship to Richard BUCK was shown as "servant" on all census, although the BUCK brothers showed her as "mother" in the 1871 census.
