A collection of the Frankenmuth and surrounding area family histories are now part of Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge.  Each of these stories is framed and hanging in one of the 354 guest rooms.  The rooms are named after area families and identified by hand-carved family name plaques on each guestroom door.  In addition, each guestroom is decorated with family pictures and memorabilia.  Additional family pictures and items are added to guestrooms when they become available.

The names were randomly chosen and the families were contacted for information.  Phase I of the Lodge consisted of 100 family histories and was completed in 1986.  These stories were written by Joan Ramm of Frankenmuth.  Phase II of the Lodge consisted of 98 family histories and was completed in 1989.  These stories were written by Margaret Kueffner of Frankenmuth.  Phase III of the Lodge consisted of 156 family histories and was completed in 1995.  These stories were written by Raymond Bergdolt of Frankenmuth.

The cooperation of the families involved was outstanding and we are sincerely grateful to each of them.  We are happy to give credit at the end of each story to the people who researched their family history for us.  We also thank the Frankenmuth Historical Museum for assisting with many of the searches.

The book of family histories is available for purchase in the Bavarian Inn Lodge Gift Shops.  Copies of individual histories are not available.  The Frankenmuth News printed the entire series of Lodge family histories as a three year weekly feature.

I hope you enjoy reading the histories about the surrounding area families -- their dreams and their accomplishments.

Sincerely,

Frankenmuth Bavarian Inn Lodge
