Mustered out Company G, 196th Infantry Regiment Ohio on 11 September 18 65 in Baltimore, MD Born in MIami Co, OH 18 yrs of age, 5'6 3/4 " tall light complexion, bl ue eyes, light hair and by occupation when enrollled, farmer.
196th Ohio Infantry Organized March 25, 1865, for one years service, under Colonel R. P. Kenne dy, it moved to the Shenandoah Valley. In July, it was ordered to Baltimo re and assigned to duty in the fortifications. The Regiment was mustered o ut September 11, 1865. The officers and men were mostly veterans who had s erved through the war.
From Dyer's Compendium 196th Regiment Infantry. Organized at Camp Chase, Ohio, and mustered in Ma rch 25, 1865. Left State for Winchester, Va., March 26. Assigned to 2nd Br igade, 2nd Provisional Division, Army of the Shenandoah. Duty at Winchest er till July. Moved to Baltimore, Md., and garrison duty there and at Fo rt Delaware till September. Mustered out September 11, 1865. Regiment lo st during service 25 Enlisted men by disease.
