MRS. M'DERMOTT LONG ILL, DIES

EXPIRES WHILE VISITING AT CENTRAL SQUARE

FORMER WATERTOWN TEACHER

Taught at Lamon and Hamilton Street Schools - Moved Back to Watertown Last Fall

-----------------------------------------------------------

Mary Farmer McDermott, wife of Luke McDermott of this city, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Charles Carpenter of Central Square Tuesday morning after an illness of several months. She was 46 years of age.

Mrs. McDermott was born in the town of Hounsfield, a daughter of the late James and Amelia Farmer. She attended Watertown schools and graduated from Watertown High school. For several years after her graduation she taught in the schools of the city, particularly at Lamon street and Hamilton street schools.

After her marriage to Luke McDermott in this city, about 20 years ago, Mrs. McDermott left the teaching profession only to do substitute work from time to time. They made their home on a farm about a mile from Sackets Harbor.

Last fall Mrs. McDermott left the farm because of her illness to come to Watertown to live with her sister, Mrs. Irene Dundon, 902 Franklin street. She went to Central Square to visit Mrs. Carpenter on her farm home just outside the village July 1.

Surviving are her husband, Luke McDermott, at present employed by the state highway department at Rodman; two brothers, Dr. F. W. Farmer of this city, and Frank Farmer of Massena, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Carpenter of Central Square and Mrs. Irene Dundon of this city.

Funeral services will be held from the Holy Family church, of which Mrs. McDermott was a member, Thursday morning at 9. Burial will be made in Glenwood.

McDermott - Farmer

----------------------------------------------------------

At the Holy Family church at 8 am Tuesday took place the marriage of Mary Isabelle Farmer, daughter of James Farmer, 62 State street, and Luke James McDermott, also of this city. The church was beautifully decorated for the occasion with palms, smilax and chrysanthemums. The ceremony was performed by Ref. Father Jov. Irene Farmer, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid with Joseph Conroy as best man. The bride was charmingly costumed in a brown traveling dress, trimmed with applique and carried white chrysanthemums. The bridesmaid wore green, with all-over lace. The bridal couple were the recipients of many beautiful and costly, as well as useful presents.

Mr. and Mrs. McDermott left on the morning train for Boston on a brief wedding trip. They will be at home to their friends after Dec. 10, at 5 High street.

The bride was formerly a teacher at the Hamilton street school, and the groom is a foreman at the New York Air Brake company's plant.
