Obituary of Lieutenant Colonel John Blair
(Knoxville Gazette, dated 1 June 1793)

"Blair, John Lieutenant Colonel.  Died on the 14th ultimo, (May 14)  

Lieutenant Colonel John Blair of Hawkins County of a nervous fever.  He was a brave, prudent, heroic officer, a valuable and highly esteemed citizen, an observer of the laws of his country, and always ready to fight and bleed in its defence."
