Directions to Biddle Plum Creek Cemetery, East Sharpsburg, Blair Co, PA

Just in front of the main clump of trees in the center of the photo above is the Cemetery. It is overgrown with prickly vines, weeds, etc. So it blends into the trees. You can see one tombstone tower sticking up, but the tower is actually broken and so will fall over again soon.
To get to this cemetery: coming from Martinsburg, take the East Sharpsburg turn off to your right. You will pass the Church shown below, cross a small bridge, and immediately turn right.

If you get the red brick house shown above then you just passed it. The Cemetery is on the west side of the road after the Snowberger Cem and before this house. Can anyone tell me if this is the old Rhodes house that was bought from the Biddles? Or if this is the Mansion home referred to in George Biddles will? George Biddle gave his mill house to William and Susan Shiffler, but I did not get a chance to look for it.

The Biddle Family Website expresses appreciation to:

  • Steve Shiffler, who first told us how to find the cemetery
  • Ramona Householder
  • Tom and Joanne Kennedy
  • And other whose names are lacking only because I do not have official permission to add them.
  • Rootsweb.com who is hosting this site
