State of Ohio, Morgan Co.
In the claim for Invalid pension of David H Savage, late Private in Co F, 77th Reg't Ohio Inf Vols.
Before the undersigned authority within and for said County and State personally came Amanda M Savage, aged 47 years, who being duly sworn states on oath that she is the widow of Joseph Savage (who was an Uncle of said David H. Savage) and she has been personally acquainted with said David H. Savage from his childhood.
Affiant says that she saw said David H. Savage on the same day that he got home after his discharge from the service; that he was then in a sick and weak condition physically; that his eyes were sore and inflamed and appeared to be weak, and he was unable to perform manual labor for a number of months; that she has seen him more or less frequently each year since his discharge, and has heard him complain each year of suffering from pain and soreness of his eyes, and the defect or weakness of his eyesight.
Affiant futher says that her deceased husband and said David H. Savage worked together in the same shop most of the time until the last four years; that during several years of that period her residence was in the same building with their shop, and she was in their shop every week and often every day, and thus had the opportunity of knowing that said David H. Savage, on account of his impaired eyesight, was unable to perform the particular part of the work in putting up barrels, her husband had to do that work for him.
I am not interested in this pension claim; and my P.O. address is McConnelsville, Ohio
Mrs Amanda Savage
Subscribed and sworn to before me this 13 day of January, 1883; and I herby certify that affiant is the person she represents herself to be, and one title to credit; that the contents of the above were fully made known to her, including the word "and" erased, before signing; and that I am not interested in the prosecution of this claim.
