Notes:
Nell used to tell hair raising stories of being in town shopping when
the Dalton gang came riding through town and shooting things up. She
had her baby with her and put the child in a cracker barrel to try
and keep him safe. Family story says it was Wallace, but it was
probably her oldest daughter Zula for the dates and location to be
right.
from Karen Grimmer...
Nellie ... was a millener (made hats) and ran a boarding house in
Arnett OK as well as Gray, OK, which is non existant now. She worked
for well to do people in New York and learned to dress and make nice
and fashionable clothes.
Gray Oklahoma was in Beaver Co., (next to Ellis Co). Yale, Oklahoma
is in Payne Co as is Ingalls Oklahoma (where Joe was Deputy).
