Mrs. Connie Hendrix Longley, 94, of Dalton, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Longley, Jr. Mrs. Longley was a member of the Dalton First Presbyterian Church and a member of the John Calvin Sunday School class. Her activities included 1948 Woman of the Year award for her work as President of the Northwest Georgia Girl Scout Council. She was a charter member of the Dalton Junior Woman's Club and served as its first president. Mrs. Longley was a member of the Lesche Club; Dalton Herb Society; Murray-Whitfield Historical Society; Dalton Garden Club. She was also secretary and treasurer of the First Valley Point Volunteer Fire Department in Whitfield County. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Teresa Longley of Dalton; grandchildren, April Longley of Washington, D.C., and Holly Longley of Atlanta; nieces and nephews. Services are today at 11 a.m. at the Dalton First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tyler Downing officiating. Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. today in the narthex of the church. Memorials may be made to the Dalton First Presbyterian Church , P.O. 906, Dalton, GA 30722-0906 or to the Murray-Whitfield Historical Society, 715 Chattanooga Road, Dalton, GA 30720.
