Services for Elmer Joe Hellard and Mary Hellard are pending with Smith Funeral Home. A Blue Bell area husband and wife were allegedly victims of a homicide-suicide Wednesday morning at their home. Mary Hellard, 66, and Elmer Joe Hellard, 67, were found by their son shot to death in their Route 1 resident about 8 am Wednesday. Reports indicate Hellard had been unhappy with his recovery from a stroke suffered earlier this year. Sheriff's officials said the Hellards were well known for prospering in the oil business. They owned mineral interest in several oil and gas wells near Kellyville, according to reports.

Mr. Elmer Joe Hellard, 67, of Route 1 died Wednesday at home. Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Bluebell Freewill Baptist Church with Tony Kafka officiating. Burial will be in South Heights Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Hellard was born Sept. 30, 1919, in Sand Springs and had lived in the Sapulpa-Kellyville are all his life. He was a farmer, stockman and independent oil producer. He was a member of the Kellyville Masonic Lodge. Survivors include son E. Wayne; daughter Kathy Brehm; brothers Troy, Everett and Eugene; sisters Eula Mae and Ruby; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild, Lisa Hellard.
