MCALISTER, MARY ELLEN, 76, of Etowah, formerly of Oak Ridge, died at Etowah Health Care Center on August 2, 2008. She was born to parents Jimmy Simmons and Martha Leslie Simmons. Mrs. McAlister was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert John McAlister, Sr., October 8, 2001; and by daughter, Belinda McAlister, April 2, 2008. Survivors include: sons, Bob McAlister and wife, Lori, and Mike McAlister, all of Oak Ridge; grandchildren, Tina Fowler and husband, Drew, Florida; great-grandchildren, Jason and Natalie Fowler; and by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Pete and Betty McAlister, Oak Ridge and Carl and Robie McAlister, Chattanooga. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, 7 PM with Rev. Jim Bailes officiating. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, 10 AM at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to The American Cancer Fund. Frances R. Longley, 82, Atlanta, died Aug. 12, 2006. She was born in Fayette County, daughter of the late John and Maude Lloyd Robinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles S. Longley Sr., and a sister, Geri Townsend. She was a long time member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church. She had been a medical lab technician at West Paces Ferry Hospital prior to retirement. Services were at Ebenezer United Methodist Church cemetery, Fayetteville, with the Rev. Dr. Dan Rice officiating. Survivors include a son, Charles and Susan Longley, Atlanta, daughters, Robin and Charles Nelson, Jonesboro, and Natalie Longley, Cumming; a special friend, Linda McCord, Cumming; grandchildren, Brandon Longley, Ian Longley, and Joy Longley, all of Atlanta, and Lindsey Nelson and Katie Nelson, both of Jonesboro; and nieces, Kay Hamner and Tracy Vaughn. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, or the American Heart Association. A. S. Turner & Sons, Decatur, was in charge.

A. E. Hull Pottery Incorporator Dies
William Watts, 83, of 239 West main street Crooksville, former official of the A E Hull Pottery company died early Monday morning at his home after a lingering illness. Mr. Watts was the last surviving member of the original incorporators of the Hull company and served as secretary treasurer of the firm until ill health forced his retirement several years ago. Surviving are his widow Emma K, one son Gerald of Crooksville, one daughter Hazel M of the home and several grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the residence with Chalmer Stattler officiating. Burial will be in Crooksville cemetery. The body was returned to the residence from Cannon and Cannon funeral home Crooksville.
