HESSTON - Harold Russell Gleason, 83, died April 21, 2004, at Schowalter Villa, Hesston. He was born May 18, 1920, at Worcester, Md., the son of Harold K. and Margaret Sherhan Gleason. He was a medical corpsman in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1941 to 1973. In Dec. 1943, he married Verla Taylor at Washington D.C. She preceded him in death. In March 1954, he married Helen Longley at Virginia. She survives. Other survivors include: a son, Dana Gleason, Newton; and a grandson. Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Schowalter Villa, Hesston, with Chaplain Beverly Baumgartner presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at Petersen Funeral Home, Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home.
