Marion was always interested in helping other people. She loved her
granddaughters very dearly. Mary, Terry and Helen learned to sew
under her tutelage. Cake-decorating was a favorite hobby, and Mary
developed an interest in this hobby, too. She was very active in
Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of the Walker chapter. Marion
worked as an occupational therapist at the Nevada State Hospital.
Another hobby was growing iris. A few years before she died, she
had 400 to 500 different iris growing in the yard. People from miles
away came to look at the beautiful show of blooms in the springtime.
Her granddaughters love growing flowers, too, although their Mother
has also had an influence on them. Marion was a heavy smoker. She
died suddenly, but peacefully, at night, presumably from a heart
attack, after a short seige of pneumonia. Marion is buried in
Nevada, MO.
