Mildred Fralin Akers, 96, of Rocky Mount, died Thursday, June 15,
2006 surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 9, 1910 to
the late Joseph J. Fralin and Lavenia Richards Fralin. She was also
preceded in death by her husband, Charles Weldon Akers; son, Lowell
Akers; sisters, Etheleen Taylor, Mary McDowell, Susan Angle, Aimee
Pugh, Jessie Garner and Nettie Midkiff; brothers, Harry, Clarence,
Kenneth, and Joseph Fralin. Surviving are her daughters and
sons-in-law, Janice and Marvin Foster, and Sylvia and Wayne Wray;
sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Kenneth and Helen Akers, Jack and
Judy Akers, and Al and Marie Akers; grandchildren, Elizabeth
Nichols, Greg and Mary Akers, Kim and Joe LaCroce, Steve and Kerri
Foster, Susan and Eric Lane, Tammy and Kelvin Pruett, and Kevin
Akers; great-grandchildren, Travis and Antonia Nichols, Carmen
Akers, Kyle Akers, Ally Foster, Paige Foster, Parker Lane;
great-greatgrandchildren, Noah Nichols, Nyomi Nichols, and Nevin
Nichols; sister, Nellie Fralin Jenkins; sisters-in-law, Dora Fralin;
numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted
from Flora Funeral Chapel, 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Rick Poland
and the Rev. Bradley S. Dulaney officiating. Interment will follow
in Mountain View Memorial Park. Flowers will be accepted or donations
may be made to the American Diabetes Association Serving Virginia,
530 East Main St., Suite 2200, Richmond, Va. 23219. The family will
be receiving friends Monday from 11:30 a.m. until service time at
Flora Funeral Service, 665 S. Main St., Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.
