The Mechanicsville Local, Hanover Co., Virginia, April 17, 2008
Linwood Ernest Cosby, 74, passed away peacefully into the arms of
his Lord surrounded by his family on Friday, April 4, 2008. He is
survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Eileen; three daughters,
Lynnette Nelson and her husband, Bill, of Varina, Denise Dowdy of
Highland Springs, and Bonnie Gagermeier and her husband, Ed, of
Annandale; seven grandchildren, Stephanie and Sara Beth Nelson,
Amber and Cody Dowdy, and Abby, Lauren, and Trey Gagermeier. Linwood
is also survived by his brother, Ralph H. Cosby and his wife, Faye,
of Mechanicsville; two sisters-in-law, Betty Cosby of Richmond and
Dot Cosby of Mechanicsville; a mother-in-law, Arlie Cockram of
Martinsville; a brother-in-law, Lane Cockram of Martinsville; and
numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a member of Shalom
Baptist Church for over 30 years, where he served as Deacon,
Property Committee Chairman and Sunday school teacher for the
Mitchell Bible Class for over a decade. He was also a member of the
North Richmond American Legion Post 38. The family received friends
on Sunday, April 6, 2008 at Bennett Funeral Home in Mechanicsville.
Additional visitation was held at Shalom Baptist Church prior to the
services. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 5, 2008 at
Shalom Baptist Church, 6395 Mechanicsville Turnpike, with Rev. Mark
Miller officiating. Graveside services were held at Washington
Memorial Park in Sandston. Memorial contributions can be made to the
American Lung Association or the Shalom Baptist Church Building
Fund.

Anna Longley is Bride of Eugene Maneely
The marriage of Miss Anna Longley, daughter of Mrs Hugh Longley,
Lafayette street and Eugene Maneely, son of Mrs and Mrs R C Maneely,
Eighth street was ???? at 7 o'clock yesterday morning at the rectory
of St Tomas Catholic church with the Rev Father Thomas C McGowan,
pastor officiating. Attendants were the bride's twin sisters, Miss
Themla Longley and Miss Velma Longley. Clarence Maneely acted as his
brother's best man. The bride wore a navy blue dress with green trim
and her hat and ????? were blue and green. The Misses Longley were
in dark green with navy accessories. Immediately following the
ceremony the couple left for a wedding trip. They will return late
in the month and after Oct ?, will be at home at ?87 Greenwood
avenue. Mrs Maneely, who attended Lash high school has been employed
in the office of the K???? store. SHe is a member of Central M E
church. Mr. Maneely is a graduate of Lash high school and is in
business with his father. He is a member of ST Thomas Catholic Church.

Mrs Anna D Maneely of 1060 Military road, who died Dec 9, left
one-half of one percent of her estate to Mary Maneely, and
one-half of one percent to Patricia Keck. Balance of her estate
is to be divided, one-half to her sister, Velma Maddox of 339
Seborn avenue, one-fourth to her sister, Thelma Stoneburner of
Nashport Route 1, and one fourth to her brother, Edmund Longley
of 341 Harmony lane. Her brother-in-law, Paul Maddox, was named
excutor. The will was written Dec 3, 1973.

GEORGE SAVAGE FUNERAL SUNDAY
McConnelsville - Funeral services for George E. Savage, 80, will be
held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternnon at the Fisher funeral home.
Burial will be in the McConnelsville cemetery. Mr. Savage died
early Friday morning at the home of his son, Harold Savage and family
of McConnelsville, following a two week's illness from heart trouble
and complications. He was born and spent nearly 50 years of his life
in Windsor township, moving to McConnelsville in 1911. One son,
Harold Savage, McConnelsville, and one granddaughter, Bettie Savage,
survive.

GEORGE E. SAVAGE CALLED FROM LIFE
McConnelsville, O. -- George E. Savage, 80, passed away at the home
of his son, Harold Savage, in McConnelsville, Friday morning at
6:26. He had been bedfast for two weeks with heart trouble and
complications. He was the son of Robert and Sara Aumiller Savage
and was born at Hooksburg, Morgan county. He spent 50 years of his
life in Stockport where he was engaged in the occupation of cooper
and painter. His wife, Bertha McElhose Savage, preceded him in death
several years ago. Surviving are one son, Harold, of McConnelsville,
with whom he had made his home for the past thirteen years; one
grand-daughter, Miss Betty Savage, and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, John, David, and Benjamin and three sisters,
Elizabeth Harkins, Lyde Savage, and Geneveva Savage are deceased.
One son, Carlyle, died in infancey. Funeral services will be held
Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Fisher funeral home. Burial
will be made in the McConnelsville cemetery.
