MASON CITY _ Duane Clinton Shomber, 60, of Mason City, died Monday (July 14, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the St. Ansgar Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gary Gonnerman officiating. Burial will be in the Orchard Cemetery, Orchard. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Schroeder and Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar. Duane was born June 16, 1937, at the Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Kan. He was baptized in the Nora Springs Christian Church. He graduated from Charles City High School in 1955. Soon after, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was discharged in October of 1959. He is survived by his father, Clinton O. Shomber, Osage; stepfather, Clifford A. Moody of Ottawa, Kan.; four sisters, Louise Hinrichsen, Barbara Miller, Dorothy Turner and Linda Riker, all of Osage; one brother, Charles E. Shomber of Augusta, Ga.; one stepbrother, Larry Moody of Las Vegas, Nev.; and numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Eunice Moody; and his stepmother, Margaret Shomber.

John Bowden Dies In California
John C. Bowden, 75, of El Segundo, Cal., formerly of Madison township, Muskingum county, died unexpectedly Friday at his home of a heart attack. He leaves his widow, Fern; a son, John and three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, all of El Segundo. Born Aug. 20, 1873 in Salem township, Mr. Bowden was a resident of that vicinity most of his life. He moved to California five years ago. Funeral services were held yesterday in Englewood, Cal., followed by burial there.

VISALIA - Graveside services for Mrs. Tula L. Frame, 73, a long-time Tulare and Fresno Counties teacher who died Tuesday, will be held in the Visalia Cemetery at 3 p.m. Friday. She was born in Decatur, Tenn., attended schools in Porterville and Fresno State College, and began teaching when she was 18 years old in Fresno, Visalia, Exeter and Porterville. She retired in 1962. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Visalia, the Retired Teachers Assn., the Visalia Emblem Club, and the Visalia Country Club. She is survived by her husband, Harley; a son, Dick of Woodland; her father, John Longley of Porterville, two brothers, former Tulare County supervisor John R. Longley of Porterville, and Herbert Longley of Sonora, and two sisters, Mrs. Winifred James of Bakersfield, and Mrs. Ora Heidbreder of Porterville. The family requests remembrances be sent to either the America Cancer Society or the donor's favorite charity. Hadley Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
